Ajisen Ramen

T3 Open · 08:00-22:30

Japanese chain ramen in T3 when you’re tired of Cantonese rice

In Shenzhen Bao'an T3, Ajisen Ramen fills the “known-brand Japanese noodles” gap in a terminal dominated by mainland chains. It sits airside in Terminal 3, so you’re fine staying past security instead of hunting in the public check-in hall. If you recognize the Ajisen logo from Shanghai or Hong Kong malls, this is the same playbook: quick bowls, lots of toppings, and laminated photo menus that make ordering easy even if your Mandarin is rusty.

Hours run roughly 08:00–22:30, so you can get a late dinner after an evening arrival from Beijing or a mid-morning bowl before a 10:00 departure. Expect typical Ajisen pricing: a basic tonkotsu-style ramen usually lands in the middle of airport sit-down ranges, above fast food buns but below full-service hotel-branded restaurants in T3. If you’re tight on yuan, stick to a single ramen and skip sides; the extra gyoza and chicken starters add up fast on the bill.

Menu standbys like tonkotsu ramen with sliced pork, soft-boiled egg, and corn are the safer bet, especially if you’ve eaten at Ajisen in Tokyo, Shanghai, or Singapore. Broth here skews lighter than hardcore Hakata shops, so chili oil, garlic, and sesame from the table help if you want more punch. Rice sets and curry plates exist but feel like filler next to the noodles; use them only if you’ve already had soup twice that day and want something dry before a 3–4 hour flight.

Service pace lines up with a 45–60 minute layover: staff seat you, take an order, and usually have bowls out in under 15 minutes when the terminal isn’t slammed by multiple 18:00–19:00 departures. Payment works with cards and mobile wallets common in China, but a 100 CNY note in your pocket doesn’t hurt if QR codes misbehave. One tip: if your boarding pass shows a remote bus gate, sit near the entrance and ask for the check as soon as bowls land; T3 bus gates sometimes call boarding a full 25 minutes before departure.
