8:30 a.m. opening makes SXM Museum an easy first stop

SXM Museum sits in the terminal at Princess Juliana International Airport and runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.. It’s small, more like a gallery-style shop than a full museum, but it’s a quick way to kill 15–20 minutes if you’re early for check-in or stuck waiting for a later flight. Think posters, books, and aviation-themed souvenirs rather than duty-free basics.

Most items tie back to SXM’s aviation history and the island itself, so you get more than the usual generic “Airport” mugs and magnets. Prices sit in the gift-shop range: expect to pay more than in town, but still under about $25 for smaller pieces like keychains or postcards. Larger prints or books climb higher, so this is more “one or two things” territory than a full shopping run.

The 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. window covers most bank of departures, so you can swing by on both morning and late-afternoon flights. It’s indoors, post-check-in side of the building, so you aren’t dealing with the sun or heat like you would in the public outdoor spots near Maho. Figure on 5 minutes to walk over from most central waiting areas inside the terminal.

Tip: if you want a single souvenir that actually says “Princess Juliana” or “SXM” with a plane on final over Maho Beach, browse here before you buy from the generic stands near the curb; the airport-specific designs tend to sell out earlier in the day.
