Colombian Emeralds

Duty Free

Open · 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Duty free jewelry runs 10 hours daily at Colombian Emeralds

This duty free shop at Princess Juliana International Airport (airside, after security) opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 6:30 p.m., so it actually lines up with most departing bank flights. It’s a standard Colombian Emeralds setup: gold, silver, watches, and of course emerald pieces in glass cases, all sold duty free in USD.

Pricing is mid- to high-end for an airport shop, with smaller silver items typically in the $50–$150 range and gemstone or emerald pieces jumping into the hundreds. Staff usually quote in both USD and euros and are happy to compare the duty free price against the tag, which helps if you’re trying to use up a last $100 bill before boarding.

Since SXM doesn’t have separate terminals, you’ll find Colombian Emeralds in the main departures shopping zone, a short walk from most international gates that handle flights to places like Miami and Amsterdam. It’s the only full jewelry-focused duty free brand in that cluster, so if you want anything nicer than basic souvenirs, this is the stop.

Two practical notes: credit cards are widely accepted and charged in USD, and they can package items for carry-on so you’re not worrying about breakage on a 3–4 hour flight. Plan on 10–15 minutes here if you want to actually compare a few pieces; if your boarding pass says “final call in 20,” keep walking and save the shopping for next time.
