Popeyes

★ 4 $$$$

Most flyers forget SLC even has a Popeyes

Tucked in the main Terminal food court after security, Popeyes gives you recognizable fried chicken at airport prices that still feel on the low end. Expect classic bone-in chicken, spicy or mild tenders, and the usual sides at a budget-friendly $ tier, which is rare in Salt Lake City’s newer terminal where sit-down meals can easily run past $20.

Menu is the standard national lineup: 3- and 5-piece tender combos, bone-in meals, fries, mashed potatoes with cajun gravy, red beans and rice, and the famous biscuits. Drinks come in medium and large fountain sizes, and a basic combo often lands in the $10–$14 range, depending on size and add-ons. If they’re running it, the chicken sandwich is usually the best value per dollar.

Hours track typical Terminal operations; most days this Popeyes opens early enough to catch morning departures and usually stays open through the late-evening banks, often around 9–10 p.m., though exact closing shifts with the last waves of flights. If you’re landing on a very late arrival after 11 p.m., assume it may be closed and plan a backup option in the Terminal concourse.

Lines spike around the 7–9 a.m. and 4–7 p.m. departure banks, when several Delta flights board at once and the shared food court seating fills quickly. Because it’s counter-service only, you order at the register, wait for your tray or bag to be called, then hunt for tables right in the central Terminal atrium. Expect a 10–20 minute total stop when the queue spills into the main walkway.

With a 4.0 rating on recent airport review aggregates, this Popeyes trends better than many generic burger chains at SLC. The chicken tends to come out hotter and fresher during rushes because they’re dropping constant batches. For a quick move: order a spicy chicken sandwich combo, skip the extra sides, and take it to your gate to avoid the food court seating scramble.
