Gourmandise

★ 4.9 $$$$

Most people sprint past Gourmandise without realizing it’s dessert-first territory.

This local bakery/café sits in the main Terminal at SLC and pulls a 4.9 rating, yet it rarely shows up in frequent-flyer threads. Prices land in the midrange ($$), so you’re not paying fine-dining money for a pastry and coffee, but it’s above chain-snack pricing. If you’ve only seen the downtown Gourmandise, expect a trimmed-down airport version geared to quicker service and smaller orders.

Hours track with typical Terminal operations, opening early enough for morning departures and running into the evening bank of flights, though exact times can shift with schedule changes. Plan on using it post-security inside the main Terminal footprint, so it works for most SLC departures and connections without a landside detour. Factor in 10–15 minutes to order, wait, and eat if your gate isn’t right next to it.

The draw is bakery-heavy: think pastries, desserts, and café bites instead of full entrees. A coffee plus pastry will usually land around the $8–$12 mark depending on what you grab, while more substantial items push you into the mid-teens. With a 4.9 rating, quality is better than what you’ll get at the standard chain spots scattered through the Terminal. If you need something sweet before a 3–4 hour flight, this is one of the better bets in the building.

No major complaint patterns pop up in local coverage or online reviews, which is unusual for an airport outlet. Still, this is SLC, so lines can spike in the 6–9 a.m. bank when Delta fills the Terminal with connections. If you see more than 8–10 people in front of you, assume at least a 10-minute wait from order to checkout, plus extra time if you’re angling for warmed items.

Tip: hit Gourmandise before walking to a far B or A gate; grabbing a pastry and coffee here then carrying it 8–10 minutes to the gate usually beats settling for whatever’s directly at your door.
