Terminal shuttle from the “north” side of SLC’s single economy lot
Economy Lot North is essentially part of Salt Lake City’s single Long-Term Economy Parking area, a large surface lot served by free shuttles to the main Terminal. You’re not buying a different product, just parking in the same field that airport maps label as one economy zone.
The long-term economy rate at SLC typically runs well under on-site garage pricing, and you still get the same shuttle loop that runs between the economy lot and the Terminal curb every few minutes. Shuttles drop you at the main Terminal entrance, and the ride from the economy area usually takes around 5–10 minutes depending on traffic and time of day.
This is open-air surface parking, so every car sits outside on asphalt with painted rows rather than in a covered structure. If you’re leaving the car for several days in summer or during snow season, plan for sun, dust, or ice build‑up and budget a couple of extra minutes at pickup to clear windows before driving out of the lot.
Because SLC publicly lists just one economy lot, signs and shuttle drivers often use simple cues like “Economy” or “Long-Term” instead of North or South. Pay attention to the exact row markers or zone letters on your pole when you park, and snap a photo; the lot is big enough that wandering around for 10–15 minutes looking for a rental sedan happens more than people admit.
Practical tip: add at least 20–30 minutes to your normal airport routine here to cover parking, shuttle wait, and the 5–10 minute ride to the Terminal before you even reach security.
