Gate A4 is the only real reason this lounge matters

The Lounge at San Juan sits landside of the A-gates cluster near gate A4, and most people treat it as overflow seating more than a true lounge. It’s inside Terminal A after security, so there’s no use for Terminal B departures unless you want to walk back over and re-clear later.

Access runs through Priority Pass or a paid day pass sold at the front desk, and staff cap entry quickly because the room is so small. Think short layover at SJU, not a half‑day work session.

Hours fluctuate with the Terminal A schedule but generally track daytime bank times tied to departures from gates A1–A8. If you’re on a late-night flight after about 21:00, plan on using gate seating instead.

The big catch: there is no on-site bathroom. Reviews say you walk about 5 minutes back toward the main A-terminal restrooms, then reenter the lounge. Regulars hit the terminal restroom by A4 before checking in, then try not to move until boarding.

Food is basic by all reports, closer to light snacks than a real meal, and nothing here competes with a proper sit‑down spot in Terminals A or B. If you’re hungry, grab something in the concourse first, then use the lounge as a place to sit with your bag and a drink.

Space is tight: think a small room that fills fast on banked departures like the morning AA and JetBlue waves. The crowding plus the bathroom walk means this is best used as a 30–45 minute pit stop when your flight is already leaving from an A-gate nearby.

What regulars do: they only bother coming in when boarding from A-gates within about 10 minutes’ walk, and they time the last bathroom trip for about 30 minutes before boarding starts so they don’t have to leave again.
