Gate-side carbs at Terminal 2’s California Pizza Kitchen

Terminal 2 at SJD doesn’t have many branded chains; California Pizza Kitchen is the familiar option by the international departure gates. It sits airside after security in T2, so you’re safe to head here once you’re through immigration and checks. Figure a 5–10 minute walk from most international gates, depending on your airline’s position on the concourse.

Menu is the usual CPK greatest hits: individual pizzas, pastas, salads, and some shared starters. Expect airport pricing: pizzas typically land in the US$14–20 range once converted from pesos, with salads a bit under that. Portion sizes run slightly smaller than stateside mall locations, so one pizza is fine for one person but tight for two.

Service pace varies with departure banks; during the morning and early afternoon international rush, food can take 20–30 minutes from order to table. If your boarding pass shows boarding within 40 minutes, stick to salads, appetizers, or a single pizza rather than pastas that take longer to fire. Off-peak gaps between transborder flights see quicker 10–15 minute turnarounds.

Drinks list leans on Mexican beers and basic cocktails alongside soft drinks. Expect draft or bottled beer around US$6–8 and cocktails closer to US$9–12, again depending on the peso rate. There’s usually sports running on TVs at the bar, which makes it an easier solo stop than most of the smaller snack kiosks in Terminal 2.

Seating fills fast before big US and Canada departures out of T2, and there’s limited room to stage roller bags. If you’re traveling with a group of four or more, send one person ahead to claim a table while others grab last-minute items at nearby duty free or restrooms.

Tip: check your gate first, then eat here; some remote bus gates in Terminal 2 board 30+ minutes early, and the walk back from CPK can easily run 5–7 minutes in a crowd.
