Snacks from the Vending Machines at SIT
Cash or card, the vending machines at Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport (SIT) are often the only food option once you’re through security in T1. There’s no full-service restaurant in the terminal, so treat these machines as your backstop for a quick bite before your flight.
Machines sit landside and airside in T1, near the small central seating area and close to the main doors for arrivals and departures. You’ll find the usual mix: chips, candy bars, crackers, and bottled drinks like soda and water. Stock varies, and prices run higher than in town, but still under typical airport restaurant levels for a drink-and-snack combo.
There are no posted hours, but the machines run 24/7 as long as the airport building is open, which covers the early-morning and late-evening Alaska Airlines bank. That matters on days when weather delays flights and the terminal café options are closed or limited, leaving the vending machines as your only food source after security.
Payment setups change, but most machines at SIT have card readers that take major credit cards, plus bills and coins. Figure on a candy bar around a couple of dollars and bottled drinks in the $3–$4 range. Bring a small stash of ones just in case the card reader is down or the machine rejects larger bills.
Tip: If you have time in Sitka before heading to T1, grab a sandwich or something more substantial in town, then use the airport vending machines only for drinks or a last snack before boarding.
