Snack Bar

Hot coffee and sandwiches at Sitka’s tiny Snack Bar

At Sitka Rocky Gutierrez (SIT), Snack Bar sits just past security in T1, a few steps from the single main gate area. The setup is basic counter service with a short grill menu, grab-and-go snacks, and bottled drinks. Think airport kiosk more than full restaurant, but it’s your only on-site food option once you’re through screening.

Hours are variable and usually track the day’s Alaska Airlines departures, so the counter tends to open before the first morning flight and close after the last evening departure. Service often pauses between banks of flights, so if you see a plane boarding at the one gate, assume the grill may also be winding down for a bit. In shoulder seasons, hours can shrink to just the peak flight times.

Pricing runs in the mid-airport range, with simple breakfast sandwiches and burgers typically landing in the $8–$15 band and snacks a couple of dollars higher than downtown Sitka grocery stores. Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s worth having a $5 or $10 bill handy in case the card terminal glitches, which does happen occasionally in small Alaska airports.

Menu basics usually include a hot sandwich, a burger, soup or chili, plus packaged chips and candy bars. Expect canned or bottled soft drinks and drip coffee rather than espresso drinks. With only one terminal (T1) and one main waiting area, seating is just the regular gate chairs a few steps from the counter, not dedicated dining tables.

Tip: eat in town if you have time, then use Snack Bar at SIT for a last hot coffee or a backup sandwich before boarding; aim to buy before boarding starts for your flight at the single gate so you’re not stuck in a line as the door closes.
