EV Charging Area

Electric vehicle parking

8 EV-only spaces sit right by the main access road

The EV Charging Area at Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benítez Airport (SCL) is a small, dedicated electric vehicle zone with marked EV-only bays, separate from the regular T1 and T2 car parks. Spaces are limited, so don’t assume you’ll find one if you arrive at peak morning departures between 06:00 and 09:00.

This area is closest to the terminal access roads that feed into T1 and T2, so walking time from your car to check-in is usually under 10 minutes if you’re an average walker with a single carry-on. Signage uses the standard green charging symbols plus “EV” in Spanish, so look for those as you turn off the airport ring road.

Charging typically runs at standard AC speeds rather than high-power DC, so this is better for topping up over a 3–10 hour stay than for a fast 20‑minute blast before driving into Santiago. If you’re parking for a same-day round trip, your car usually gains a meaningful chunk of range while you’re in the air.

Pricing for the EV Charging Area generally tracks the main on-airport parking tariff, billed per hour up to a daily cap, with the electricity cost either baked into the rate or added as a small extra line item. Expect to pay more than off-airport lots that sit a 10–15 minute shuttle ride away, but you trade that for walking distance.

Access uses the same barrier and ticket system as other SCL parking, so keep the printed ticket dry and visible; if you lose it, staff typically charge the full-day maximum for that calendar day. Tip: take a quick phone photo of both your bay number and the nearest pole or sign before heading to T1 or T2, so you’re not wandering the lanes after a late arrival.
