Pidem

Gate-side pide at SAW T: Pidem keeps it simple

Pidem sits airside in Terminal T at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), right in the main departures food court, so you see it as soon as you clear security and head toward the central gates. It’s a Turkish fast-food chain focused on pide, basically flatbread pizzas baked to order, and it runs all day in sync with the bulk of departures, typically from early morning to late evening.

Menu boards list prices clearly in TRY, and a standard cheese or minced-meat pide usually lands in the mid-range for the terminal, cheaper than most sit-down options but higher than a simple simit stand. You order at the counter, pay, then wait a few minutes for your tray; staff call your number or name, and there’s shared seating with other brands in the same food court zone.

The move here is a classic kıymalı (minced meat) or kaşarlı (cheese) pide, which comes sliced and easy to eat at a gate-side table if you’re flying Pegasus or AnadoluJet out of nearby T gates. Portions run large enough that one pide can cover a quick lunch, and you can add ayran or bottled soft drinks to make it a set-style meal without spending lounge-level money.

Service pace depends on oven load; at peak banks before the 10:00–12:00 and 18:00–21:00 departures, your wait can stretch toward 15 minutes, while off-peak it’s closer to 5. Food comes hot from the oven, so give it a minute to cool; that still leaves enough time to eat if you show up at Pidem about 40 minutes before boarding starts.

Tip: check your nearby gate screens first, then sit at the tables facing your exact gate number so you can see boarding open without relying on muffled food-court announcements.
