Panera Bread

★ 2

Gate 8 in SAV’s Main terminal is where you’ll find Panera Bread.

This Panera sits airside near Gate 8 in the Main terminal, past the single security checkpoint at Savannah/Hilton Head. It’s one of the few national chains in the concourse, which explains the regular lines during the morning rush. Seating bleeds into the public gate area, so expect to hover for a table during the 6:00–8:00 a.m. and late-afternoon bank of flights.

Hours generally track with the first and last departures, roughly 5:00 a.m. to early evening; if your flight leaves after 8:00 p.m., don’t count on it being open. Menu is the standard corporate lineup: You’ll see You Pick Two combos, mac and cheese, and the usual bakery case. Breakfast sandwiches and bagels run in the $4–$7 range; soups, salads, and sandwiches usually land between $8 and $13 before tax.

Quality matches a lower-end mall Panera, and the 2-star average rating reflects that. Bagels and breakfast sandwiches are the safest bet when they’re turning over product fast before the 7:00 a.m. departures. Later in the day, expect the occasional lukewarm soup or bread that has been sitting a couple of hours. Portion sizes are standard chain-issue, not airport-upcharged huge.

Mobile ordering through the Panera app sometimes works here, but staff at this location have been known to prioritize in-person lines during peak times. If you try the app, pad at least 10–15 minutes before boarding for a Gate 8-area flight. Drinks are the usual soft drinks and coffee; the charged lemonades are sold here at the same prices you’d see in town.

Tip: If your gate isn’t near 8, grab your food here, then walk it down to your actual gate; security at SAV is quick, but the line at this Panera can easily eat 20 minutes during the early bank.
