Charley’s Grilled Subs

Gate-side cheesesteaks at Charley’s Grilled Subs in Main Terminal

Charley’s Grilled Subs sits past security in SAV’s Main terminal, just off the main concourse near the central gates. It’s a quick-service counter with a few small tables, more grab-and-go than sit-down meal. The setup leans heavy on hot sandwiches and fries, with prep done on a flat-top right in front of you, so you at least see your food cooked to order.

The menu sticks to basics: cheesesteaks, chicken Philly sandwiches, loaded fries, and a few salads, all in the $10–$16 range before tax. Add a fountain drink and you’re usually staring at a $18–$22 check for a sandwich combo. Portions run on the smaller side for that price, especially compared with non-airport Charley’s locations. Expect standard fast-food bread, American or provolone, and a lot of onions and peppers.

Quality lines up with the 2-star reputation: edible if you’re hungry and short on time, not a meal you’ll remember once you’re wheels up. Fries tend to go lukewarm fast, so ask for them fresh from the fryer if they’re just sitting in the bin. Sandwiches can skew greasy; if you don’t want that, ask them to go lighter on the oil and cheese. There’s no breakfast menu here, so plan on lunch or later.

Service usually moves at typical food-court speed, around 5–10 minutes from order to tray when there are 3–4 people in line. During mid-morning and mid-afternoon lulls, you might be in and out in under 7 minutes. They close in line with evening departures, often around the last outbound bank, so don’t count on a late-night bite after the final flights around 9–10 p.m.

Tip: If you have more than 30 minutes, grab your Charley’s order to go and eat at the gate seats near your specific boarding door; it’s easier to keep an eye on boarding groups in SAV’s compact concourse.
