Subway

Near the Terminal 1 gates, Subway is the familiar option

In King Khalid International Airport’s Terminal 1, Subway sits airside, so you’re safe to head here after security if you want something recognizable before a regional Saudia or Flynas flight. It’s a standard outlet, not a stripped-down kiosk, so you can expect the usual line of breads, fillings, and toppings rather than a limited snack counter.

Pricing runs higher than city branches, with 6-inch subs typically landing in the mid-range SAR bracket and footlongs edging closer to what you’d pay in a central Riyadh mall. You’ll see the regular menu: tuna, turkey, steak & cheese, meatball, and the veggie options, plus the standard cookies and fountain drinks. Combos cost less than buying drink and sandwich separately, so check the overhead boards before ordering.

Since this is Terminal 1, you’ll mostly see passengers on regional routes, and queues tend to form in the peak evening departure banks around 20:00–23:00. Morning traffic is lighter, and you can usually walk up and order a simple 6-inch egg or veggie sub and be out in under 10 minutes. Staff move quickly, but if there are more than five people ahead of you, expect closer to 15 minutes from joining the line to paying.

Subs are built in the usual sequence: pick bread, choose a base (for example chicken tikka or turkey), then load up lettuce, tomato, onions, olives, pickles, and sauces. Ask directly if you want extra jalapeños or extra cheese; they don’t always offer it proactively. Cookies come in the standard chocolate chip and oatmeal variants, and drinks are mostly bottled water and sodas alongside a fountain setup.

Tip: if your gate is at the far end of Terminal 1, grab your sandwich here first and carry it down, because options thin out noticeably past the central food cluster.
