Gate-side in Terminal 1, this is the default BA lounge
In Terminal 1 at King Khalid International (RUH), Plaza Premium Lounge runs 24 hours and ends up as the standard option for many British Airways and other international departures. It’s pay-per-use, so you can walk up from T1’s main departures level, pay at the desk, and head straight in after clearing security.
The food setup is a hot/cold buffet with what regulars call “reasonable” options for a contract lounge. Expect basic rice dishes, pasta, a couple of hot mains, salads, and small desserts rather than anything gourmet. If you’re on a 01:00–03:00 bank of flights out of Terminal 1, this is one of the few places where you can count on a proper plate of food instead of just snacks from the public concourse.
Seating is standard Plaza Premium: a mix of armchairs and small tables spread across the lounge, enough that people report “good seating” even in late-night peaks around midnight. Power outlets sit along walls and between some chairs, so if your phone lands at 5% before a 6-hour sector to London, you can usually find a plug without playing musical chairs.
Bathrooms are inside the lounge, which matters at RUH when lines in the main Terminal 1 restrooms stretch out during late-night Umrah and international waves. FlyerTalk users specifically call out the internal restrooms as a reason they pick this lounge on connections landing after 23:00 and departing again before dawn.
The weak spot is Wi‑Fi. Multiple travellers say “wifi in the lounge sucks,” with speeds dropping enough that video calls or large downloads become frustrating. If you plan to upload a 500 MB presentation before a 02:30 departure, use the terminal’s public Wi‑Fi near gate areas first, then move into the lounge for food and a seat.
Regulars treat Plaza Premium T1 as a functional stop: eat, charge devices, use the bathroom, then head to the gate 40–45 minutes before boarding when flying out of Terminal 1. One practical move: download shows, sync playlists, and send any big files in the main terminal, then treat the lounge as your quiet-ish waiting room and refuelling point before a long overnight flight.
