Four kiosks instead of one food hall in RTM T1
Airside in Terminal T1, the Food Court Kiosks are split across several points: a Self-Service Restaurant, an Espresso Bar, a Sandwich Corner, and a Bar and Lounge Terrace, all open from around 05:00 until the last flight. Think snack constellation, not a central food court. It’s all post-security, so you eat within sight of the few gates RTM has.
Hours track the flight schedule, so a 21:30 departure still sees options, but a severely delayed late-night flight can leave you with shutters down and just vending machines. Nothing runs 24 hours here, and that’s the main complaint regulars mention when comparing RTM to Schiphol’s all-night McDonald’s and Albert Heijn To Go.
Pricing sits in standard small-airport territory: expect around €3–€4 for coffee, €4–€6 for sandwiches, and into low double digits for a hot plate from the self-service line. Quality is functional cafeteria level, which lines up with the overall 1-star rating the setup tends to get on review sites.
For real food, walk to the Self-Service Restaurant first and look for whatever hot option is actually under the heat lamps; if trays look picked over, default to a pre-packed sandwich from Sandwich Corner, which turns stock more frequently. The Espresso Bar is mainly for coffee and a quick croissant; the Bar and Lounge Terrace is where you get a beer or wine while watching the few stands on the apron.
What regulars do: before buying, check which kiosk sits closest to your actual gate in T1 and confirm it is open against your specific flight time, especially on the first wave around 05:00–06:00 or the last departures of the night. If you have more than 45 minutes, they walk to the self-service spot; under 20 minutes, they grab a coffee and snack at the nearest counter.
Tip: eat on the way to the airport and use these kiosks for a backup coffee or snack; don’t count on a full, hot meal if your flight is late out of RTM.
