Bus boarding from T1 means your “gate” is usually a coach

If you need real food before an Aegean or Ryanair hop, Goody's Burger House is usually the most substantial choice, with full burger plates and fries that beat grabbing a cold baguette at Upper Crust near the gates. For a quick caffeine hit, Illy Cafe pours better coffee than the more generic Sandwiches Coffee and Snacks counters, but you pay a small premium per cup compared with prices in town.

Lounges: limited and sometimes closed

The Skyserv Business Lounge sits airside in T1 on the departures level, signposted after security near the duty free area, and typically opens during the main morning and afternoon departure banks. British Airways passengers report that the lounge BA used to contract has been closed with no clear reopening date, so even Club Europe flyers often end up in standard seating near their gate instead of any dedicated space.

Shopping while you wait for your bus call

Just past security, the Duty Free Shop fills the central zone with liquor, cigarettes, Greek wine and food products at set euro pricing, then the corridor breaks out into smaller units like RHO Kiosk, Hudson, Connect Phone and a Pharmacy. Farther along by the gate seating, you pass Barbair, All Greek to me, a Newsstand, a Souvenir Shop, a Mini Market, a Jewellery Shop and a Fashion Boutique, so you can still grab sunscreen or a €5 fridge magnet if boarding is delayed.

Arrivals, baggage and getting out

On arrival, domestic and Schengen flights funnel into a shared baggage hall on the lower level, with a limited number of carousels that can back up when several charters land together at RHO. Aegean business‑class passengers sometimes get their own bus from the aircraft to the terminal doors, shaving a few minutes off the walk and helping them reach passport control or the luggage belts ahead of the main crowd.

What regulars actually do and one last tip
