T1 $$$$ Post-security

T1’s Bon Voyage Airport Bar pours local beer fast

Right after security in Terminal T1, Bon Voyage Airport Bar sits in the main departure area and works well for a quick drink before boarding. It’s fully post-security, so you’re already past passport control and scanners before you sit down. Figure on medium pricing for Yangon: draft or bottled beer in the US$3–5 range and mixed drinks a bit higher.

This spot leans local. You’ll usually find Myanmar beer and other regional labels in stock, alongside basic spirits like gin, rum, and whisky. The setup is simple bar stools plus a few small tables, so think 20–30 seats total. Food is more of a side act than the main draw, with light bar snacks and a few local-style bites rather than full meals, and prices typically stay under US$10 per plate.

Hours track T1’s international schedule, with the bar opening for early departures and staying active into late-night banks; expect it to be available from roughly three hours before the first flights to near the last departures of the day. Because it’s inside T1, this bar only makes sense if your boarding pass says T1 and your flight leaves from its gates. There’s no way to walk airside between T1, T2, and T3 once you’re through security.

Payment is straightforward: staff usually take both Myanmar kyat and cards, and bills clearly list prices in local currency with tax included. Service pace matches airport timing; a beer or simple highball lands in under 5 minutes, which works fine on a 45-minute wait at the gate. Don’t expect a long cocktail list or fancy glassware; this place is about getting a drink in hand quickly.

Tip: if you want a seat at the actual counter rather than the side tables, stop in before the big evening departures from T1, when bar stools tend to fill about 30–45 minutes before boarding calls.
