Employee Parking

Restricted

Restricted employee parking at PTY sits away from T1 and T2

Employee Parking at Tocumen International Airport is a restricted-use lot, not a public option for passengers flying out of T1 or T2. Access is limited to staff with valid airport-issued permits, so you can’t just drive in, pull a ticket, and park here for a flight. If you see signage for “Employee Parking” while following rental car or departures signs, keep going; it will not accept general customers.

This lot functions as long-term parking for airline and airport employees who work daily shifts at PTY, so the rules and pricing are handled through internal airport processes rather than public day rates. Unlike the main public parking areas serving T1 and T2, you won’t find pay-on-foot machines, posted hourly tariffs, or short-stay bays for drop-offs or pickups. Treat it like a gated staff car park, not an overflow option when the main garage looks full.

If you are renting a car from a company based at PTY, their return area will not be in Employee Parking, even if the service road passes near the staff lot. Follow your rental contract’s instructions or the company-branded signs, which usually route you toward the public parking structures or a dedicated return zone near the terminals. Trying to access Employee Parking as a workaround can slow you down and put you at a closed gate right before check-in closes.

Tip: when driving to PTY, follow signs marked for public parking and terminal access for T1 or T2, and ignore any side roads marked only as “Empleados,” “Employee Parking,” or “Personal Autorizado.” That keeps you on the correct loop and avoids last-minute U-turns near secure airport service areas.
