Bus 24 runs between PSP Main Terminal and downtown Palm Springs

SunLine Route 24 stops at Palm Springs International Airport’s Main Terminal and connects to downtown Palm Springs along Tahquitz Canyon Way. This is a local bus, not an express, so plan around 15–25 minutes to reach the center of town depending on traffic and exact stop. The stop sits just outside the terminal loop, so you walk a few minutes from baggage claim to the curbside sign marked for Route 24.

A standard SunLine local fare on Route 24 is around $1 per ride as of 2024, which undercuts taxis and most rideshares by a wide margin. You pay the driver when you board, and exact change is recommended because drivers do not make change. Day passes cost only a few dollars, so if you expect two or more bus trips between PSP and town in one day, the pass usually pays off.

Service hours on SunLine Route 24 typically run from early morning to evening, with frequencies around every 30–60 minutes depending on time of day. Schedules shift slightly between weekdays and weekends, and holiday service can be reduced. Check the current timetable on the SunLine website or app on the same day you fly, and build in at least one headway (30–60 minutes) as a buffer before a departing flight from the Main Terminal.

Route 24 connects the airport to several key cross streets in Palm Springs, including Indian Canyon Drive and Palm Canyon Drive, where many hotels and short-term rentals sit within a few blocks. If your lodging is farther out, you can transfer from Route 24 to other SunLine routes at downtown stops like N Indian Canyon & E Alejo Road. Transfers are included if you use a day pass, but if you pay cash per ride you’ll pay again for each new bus.

Accessibility is standard SunLine: Route 24 buses are typically low-floor and wheelchair accessible, and front racks carry about two bicycles. If you land at PSP with checked luggage, aim for one suitcase and one personal item; the bus has standard seating and limited luggage space, and you keep bags with you rather than in a separate hold. For late arrivals after the evening cutoff, assume Route 24 has stopped and budget for a rideshare or taxi instead.

Tip: Before you leave PSP’s baggage claim, pull up the live Route 24 map or schedule and time your walk to the Main Terminal bus stop so you are not standing in the desert heat for an extra 30 minutes.
