Gate-side in T1, Little Wok Kitchen is your sit-down option
Right in Terminal T1 after security at Penang International, Little Wok Kitchen is the default full-service spot before domestic and regional flights. It carries a 3.0 rating online, which tracks: food is decent, timing can be hit-or-miss, and you’re paying airport pricing rather than downtown Penang hawker pricing.
The menu leans Asian stir-fries and rice dishes, with a few Western plates. Expect wok-fried noodles, fried rice, simple chicken or seafood dishes, plus basics like fries or sandwiches. Mains usually land in the RM20–30 range, which is double what you’d pay in George Town but standard for PEN. Portions are reasonable, not huge, and spice levels stay on the mild side unless you ask.
Drinks run from bottled water around RM4–5 to soft drinks and basic coffee a few ringgit more. Beer pricing varies by promo but plan on roughly RM15–20 per bottle. That’s steeper than landside supermarkets, but you’re paying to sit at a real table near the gates instead of hunting for a vending machine.
Service speed seems to depend heavily on how many departures are banked in T1 at the same time. With one or two flights on the board, food often hits the table in 10–15 minutes; during evening waves, you can wait 25–30 minutes. If boarding time is inside 40 minutes, stick to fried rice, noodles, or anything already prepped rather than grilled items.
Cards are widely accepted, and bills are usually settled at the table, which helps when you’re clock-watching for a flight to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. One practical tip: check your gate assignment on the FIDS screens before you sit; some T1 gates require a short walk, and this place can easily eat 30 minutes of your buffer once you factor in ordering and paying.
