BA and Qatar send premium passengers here in OTP T1

The Mastercard Lounge sits after passport control in the non‑Schengen pier of Terminal 1, on the right‑hand side at the very end of the concourse. Access is for international departures only, including BA Club Europe, BA Silver/Gold and oneworld status passengers, Qatar premium travellers, plus many premium “World Elite” Mastercard cardholders. A small lift takes you up from pier level to the lounge floor, so factor in an extra 5 minutes from the end gates.

FlyerTalk regulars are blunt: food here is basically snacks, not a meal. You’ll usually find packaged nuts, crisps, yoghurt pots, biscuits and breakfast cereal, and that’s about it. No hot dishes, no cheese or cold cuts, and no proper sandwiches, so eat in the main terminal if you want real protein before a 3‑hour BA or Qatar sector. Treat any food you see as filler between gate checks, not dinner.

Drinks land in the “fine, not special” bucket. Expect basic soft drinks, a coffee machine, and standard lounge alcohol rather than premium labels; think house wine and mainstream spirits, not single‑malts. Most frequent flyers use it as a place for one or two drinks and some Wi‑Fi before heading down to their B or C gates in the non‑Schengen arm. If you care a lot about cocktails or specific brands, buy those in the bar by the pier instead.

The surprise strong point is the smoking room tucked inside the lounge, repeatedly praised on FlyerTalk for excellent extraction and ventilation compared with the general terminal smoking areas at OTP. Smokers holding eligible Mastercards often tap in purely for 10–15 minutes here before boarding. If you dislike smoke, you’re still fine: the ventilation keeps smells out of the main seating area.

What regulars do: they clear passport control, ride the small lift up at the pier end, grab a drink, maybe some crisps or yoghurt, sync email on the lounge Wi‑Fi, then walk down to boarding when the BA or Qatar flight shows “Go to gate.” Don’t plan a long stay or a pre‑flight meal here. Practical tip: eat landside or at a restaurant in the non‑Schengen pier first, then use your Mastercard or status for 30 minutes of quieter seating and drinks before departure.
