Pay-per-use lounge at OTP that nobody seems to talk about

Points blogs name Dacia and TAROM’s lounges at OTP Terminal 1, but almost no frequent-flyer chatter mentions Celebrity Lounge at all. It sits airside in departures, sold as a pay-per-use space rather than an airline status perk, and it’s basically off the radar of FlyerTalk and Reddit regulars. If you like quiet and don’t care about loyalty points, that anonymity can work in your favour.

Access runs on walk-up payment, with a day pass priced around the .lyd mark rather than bundled into Priority Pass or DragonPass. That means your credit card lounge perks almost certainly don’t open the door here. Budget roughly the same as a main-course and drink at an airport chain restaurant, and weigh that against how long you plan to sit near gate departures instead.

The lounge sits in the departures area of Bucharest Henri Coandă’s single passenger terminal, officially Terminal 1, so you pass security first and then head toward the airline gates. Signage at OTP can be minimal, so allow 10–15 extra minutes after passport control the first time you look for it. If your gate is at the far end of the Schengen pier, expect a 5–10 minute walk back when boarding starts.

Because the operation doesn’t show up in most online trip reports, food and drink details stay fuzzy. Assume the usual European cold snacks, coffee from a machine rather than barista shots, and basic soft drinks. If hot dishes exist, they’re likely limited to a couple of chafing-tray options at peak times, not full restaurant service. Treat it as a step up from a crowded gate seat, not a sit-down meal replacement.

With no clear feedback on showers, power outlets, or views of the runway, plan conservatively. Bring your own charging brick and cable; OTP often has a mismatch of plug types and limited sockets in older spaces. Download shows over Wi‑Fi in the main terminal before heading in, in case lounge bandwidth caps out during the evening bank of departures.

Practical tip: before paying the .lyd day pass at Celebrity Lounge, do a quick 30‑second walk-by: check how many seats are free and how loud it feels. If it’s crowded or noisy, you’re usually better off grabbing a coffee at a landside café in Terminal 1 and keeping the cash for the trip instead.
