Boardshorts and rashies at gate level prices in T1

Rip Curl sits airside in Gold Coast Airport’s T1, on the main departures concourse after security, so you can grab surf gear without leaving your gate area. It runs standard airport retail hours, generally opening from the first wave of morning flights until the last evening departures. You’re paying airport markups, but basic logo tees and caps still tend to sit in the AUD $30–$50 range.

This is a straight surf-brand store: think boardshorts, bikinis, rash vests, thongs, hoodies, day packs and a wall of logo hats. If you forgot swimwear for Surfers Paradise, you’ll find multiple men’s and women’s cuts and sizes on the racks. Beach towels and tote bags are usually stocked too, handy if you’re heading straight from OOL to a hotel pool.

Quality lines like Mirage boardshorts and UV-rated rashies are the better buy compared with basic souvenir tees, which you can often get cheaper in town along Cavill Avenue. Accessories run from roughly AUD $15 keyrings and wallets up to AUD $100+ for backpacks. Sizes sell through quickly around school holidays and long weekends, so don’t bank on getting every style in XL or kids’ sizes late in the day.

Staff are used to tight connections and can ring up a quick sale in under five minutes if the store isn’t swamped by a full 737 boarding call. If your gate is at the far end of T1’s pier, give yourself at least 10 minutes round trip so you’re not sprinting back with a towel and flip-flops under your arm.
