DriveNow at NUE is history; it’s all ShareNow now
DriveNow as a separate brand disappeared in 2019 when it merged with car2go into ShareNow, so any “DriveNow at Nuremberg Airport (NUE)” info you see in old posts is outdated. If a blog talks about DriveNow parking at NUE, read it as ShareNow and expect the same mixed BMW/MINI and Smart fleet under one app.
The old DriveNow airport parking zones at German airports, including NUE T1, have been rebranded into ShareNow areas in the regular car parks. That means the physical space still exists, but the DriveNow logo does not; look for ShareNow signs in the car-sharing section instead of hunting for a blue DriveNow sticker that’s been gone for years.
To use what replaced DriveNow at NUE, you now just open the ShareNow app, not a legacy DriveNow app that stopped working after the merger. Regulars open ShareNow as soon as the plane lands, check the airport map inside the app, and walk straight to the pinned car-sharing zone rather than assuming the old DriveNow path still lines up.
One Reddit regular said bluntly that “DriveNow doesn’t exist anymore; it’s all ShareNow now,” and that lines up with on-the-ground feedback from German airports. At Nuremberg, that means any instructions from a 2016 or 2017 post about DriveNow entry barriers, QR codes, or specific rows in the car park should be treated as a rough hint only, not step-by-step.
How to use the ex-DriveNow option at NUE (now ShareNow)
- 1. Before flying to NUE, register and verify your license in the ShareNow app; old DriveNow logins don’t work anymore.
- 2. After landing at Terminal T1, switch off flight mode and open the ShareNow app while you’re still at the baggage belt.
- 3. Check the in-app map for cars marked directly at “Airport Nuremberg” or in the labeled car-sharing area of the main car park.
- 4. Follow airport signage for car rental and parking; at the car park, look specifically for the ShareNow section that replaced the old DriveNow-branded zone.
- 5. Start the rental in the app next to the vehicle, do the condition check with photos, and then drive out following the instructions on the parking ticket or barrier system.
- 6. For your return to NUE, open the ShareNow app again and follow the current drop-off area marked at Nuremberg Airport; don’t rely on any DriveNow drop-off map saved from earlier years.
One tip: screenshot the ShareNow airport map for NUE before you land so you’re not guessing between P1, P2, or a random car park level when mobile data gets spotty inside T1.
