Bus

20 minutes from T1 to downtown Nantes on Navette Aéroport

Navette Aéroport is the direct bus between Nantes Atlantique Airport T1 and the city center, running in about 20 minutes to the Gare Sud stop by Nantes train station. It’s a single route, clearly signed "Navette Aéroport," so you’re not guessing between multiple lines after you exit arrivals. Buses pull up right outside the terminal, near the main forecourt, so you’re rolling your bag less than 100 meters from the doors.

Tickets run around €9 for a one-way adult fare, payable on board or at machines marked TAN near the stop. The same ticket covers you for a short connection on the city’s trams and buses once you reach Nantes, but the airport segment is the value play here. Carry a card with contactless enabled; drivers on the Navette Aéroport often prefer tap payments over cash, and it speeds loading at the terminal.

Service usually starts around 04:45–05:00 and runs until roughly 00:30, with departures roughly every 20–30 minutes during the day. Late evening gaps can stretch closer to 30 minutes, especially after 22:00, so check the current timetable on the TAN network before you land. If your flight into T1 arrives after midnight, treat the last bus time as a hard cutoff, not a suggestion.

The bus stops at a few key points, including "Gare Sud" for the SNCF and "Centre-Ville" area, but it doesn’t do a long neighborhood loop like local lines 38 or 98. Seats are standard city-bus style with limited luggage racks, so if you’re rolling two checked bags plus a cabin case, board early at T1 to grab space near the front door. Standing for 20 minutes is fine; trying to balance three bags at the same time is not.

If you’re catching an early TGV from Nantes Gare after landing, aim for a Navette Aéroport departure that gives you at least a 45-minute buffer at the station in case of traffic on the ring road.
