Taxi 65min 21,000 yen

65 minutes from NGO T1/T2 to Yokkaichi’s industrial zone

Late JAL or ANA flights into Chubu Centrair (T1) land after most rail options line up poorly for Yokkaichi’s petrochemical area. A direct taxi from the airport runs about 65 minutes to central Yokkaichi, skipping Meitetsu to Nagoya and the Kintetsu transfer. For anyone heading straight to plants along the coast before a morning site visit, this is the least fiddly option after 21:00.

Metered fares from NGO to Yokkaichi sit around 21,000 yen one way as of 2024, including the toll road segment. Most airport taxis accept major credit cards and IC cards, but you still want at least 25,000 yen cash on hand in case the driver’s terminal fails. Keep your hotel name plus address in Japanese ready on your phone; some smaller business hotels near Tomidahama and Minami-Yokkaichi confuse drivers who only know the main JR Yokkaichi Station.

Arrivals in T1 and T2 share the same taxi rank on the ground floor, with clear “Taxi” signs right outside the international exit. In normal conditions it takes 5–10 minutes from clearing customs to stepping into a cab. Midnight arrivals can see a thinner line of cars, so if you land on a 23:15 LCC flight into T2, walk straight to the rank instead of stopping at the convenience store first.

The drive usually follows the expressway loop around Nagoya and then heads north toward Yokkaichi, with the toll portion shaving 10–15 minutes off the run compared with local roads. Traffic after 21:00 is light, but weekday rush hours around 17:00–19:00 can push the run from 65 minutes to 80–90 minutes and bump the fare above 23,000 yen. If your plant or office sits near Yokkaichi Port, tell the driver “Yokkaichi-ko” plus the company name so they choose the right exit.

Practical tip: If your company is paying, ask your office to pre-book a taxi or car service and email you the driver’s name, estimated fare, and pickup point at NGO; that shaves five minutes at the curb and avoids any surprise on the 21,000 yen meter.
