65 minutes from NGO to Okazaki with a one-seat taxi ride
A direct taxi from Chubu Centrair (T1 or T2) to Okazaki runs about 65 minutes in normal traffic and drops you right at your door, which is why expats with two or three heavy suitcases use it after late-night arrivals. You walk out of arrivals, point to your address in Japanese or on a map app, and the driver handles everything from there.
Expect to pay around 22,000 yen for a standard sedan taxi from the airport taxi rank to Okazaki, meter-based but in that ballpark on most runs. That 22,000 yen is per car, not per person, so two or three people with luggage can split the fare and bring the per-head cost closer to a highway bus plus local train combo.
The main taxi ranks sit just outside the arrivals levels of T1 and T2, with signage in English and Japanese and staff on duty until the last flights around 23:00. If your red-eye lands close to midnight, you still usually find cars waiting, but for arrivals after 00:00 on delayed flights you might want your hotel or a Japanese-speaking friend to pre-arrange a car through a local taxi company.
Drivers accept cash in yen, and many airport taxis have credit card terminals or touch IC support, but do not count on cards 100% at 02:00. For a 22,000 yen fare, carrying at least 25,000 yen in cash covers the ride plus the expressway tolls that are normally baked into the final meter amount from NGO to Okazaki.
Compared with the Meitetsu train plus local JR leg, the door-to-door taxi usually saves 20–30 minutes when you factor in transfers, especially if you land in T2 and need 10 minutes to walk to the station area. Where it really wins is with bulky luggage: you avoid stairs, packed commuter cars, and the last 10–15 minute walk or taxi hop from Okazaki Station to your actual home.
Tip: write your full Okazaki address in Japanese before you fly, or grab a screenshot from Google Maps, and hand that to the taxi dispatcher at T1 or T2 so the driver can plug it into the car’s navigation quickly.
