Island Bar

Rum punch in hand 5 minutes after security in Terminal A

Island Bar sits just past the central checkpoint in Terminal A at Lynden Pindling International (NAS), an easy spot to hit if your flight boards from gates A10–A19. It’s a walk-up bar with a few counter seats and some nearby shared tables, so think quick drink and a snack rather than a long, sit-down meal.

The focus here is drinks, especially rum-based cocktails that sit in the $10–$15 USD range depending on pour and mixer. You’ll see the usual suspects: rum punch, Bahama Mama, and basic mixed drinks, plus local Bahamian beers in bottles or cans. If you just want a spirit and mixer, prices climb with premium labels, and tabs can push $20 if you’re not watching the menu board.

Food is limited and more of a side act. Expect bar bites that can hold you for a short hop to Miami or Fort Lauderdale, but not a full meal before a 3–4 hour run to Toronto or New York. Think simple snacks you can finish in 15–20 minutes at the counter before your group gets called to board.

Service pace depends heavily on the time of day; late-morning and early-afternoon banked departures for US flights can mean a 10-minute wait for made-to-order cocktails. Earlier in the day, before the 9:00–11:00 wave, it’s usually quick to grab a beer or a house mixed drink and head back to your gate area.

Island Bar keeps airport hours, typically opening by the first US departures around 7:00 and staying open into the evening bank that runs toward 19:00–20:00. If your flight leaves from Terminal B or C, factor in a 5–10 minute walk back to the gate area; don’t order another round inside 30 minutes of boarding time.

Tip: Check the posted drink list before you sit; prices for top-shelf rum and add-ons stack fast, and a “quick drink” can double in cost compared with the basic rum punch.
