Bus 25–40 min

25–40 minutes from Terminal 1 to Napoli Centrale or the port

Alibus is the dedicated airport bus that runs from Terminal 1 at Naples International Airport to Piazza Garibaldi/Napoli Centrale and then on to Molo Beverello and Porta di Massa for ferries and cruise ships. Actual ride time lands closer to 25–40 minutes in real traffic, not the 15–20 minutes some blogs still quote, especially once you hit the streets around the station and port.

You buy tickets inside the terminal, usually at the Sun Store/tabacchi or the main kiosk in Arrivals at Terminal 1, before you step outside. Several regulars say drivers often refuse to sell tickets when it’s busy, so treat onboard purchase as a last resort. Paper tickets cost only a few euros and must be validated in the machine on the bus; reviewers mention fines when they forgot to stamp the ticket within the first minute on board.

The stop at the airport sits just outside Terminal 1, signed “Alibus,” and the route runs airport → Piazza Garibaldi/Napoli Centrale → Molo Beverello/Porta di Massa. Frequency is advertised around every 15–20 minutes in the daytime, but multiple riders report gaps and irregular headways in the evening after roughly 20:00, so build in extra margin if you have a late ferry, train, or flight.

Space on board is tight: think metro-level crowding with very limited luggage racks, especially on airport–Garibaldi runs landing between 10:00 and 12:00. Buses sometimes leave the airport already busy from previous stops or skip taking more passengers once full, so people end up waiting for the next departure even though it’s shown on the schedule. Regulars say it’s often worth letting one packed bus go and taking the next one 15–20 minutes later for a less crushed ride.

Between Garibaldi and the port, reviews flag pickpocket risks in the standing area, particularly when the bus is shoulder-to-shoulder. Keep backpacks in front, zip pockets, and stay close to your bags when the doors open at Piazza Garibaldi and Molo Beverello. One last tip: buy and validate your ticket in Arrivals, then walk straight to the Alibus stop and line up early so you can grab a spot near the doors and get off quickly at your station or pier.
