Gate-side bread fix in Terminal 1

Just inside Munich Airport Terminal 1, Backstube Wünsche runs more like a neighborhood bakery than a standard airport grocery stand. You’ll see the familiar German mix: fresh rolls, loaves, basic snacks, and a few takeaway drinks boxed into a compact corner. It sits airside in T1, so you can grab food after security instead of relying on the inflight bread basket.

Prices sit in normal Munich airport territory: a simple roll or Breze hovers around a few euros, and adding cheese or meat pushes things into the €4–€6 range. Coffee and soft drinks ride the usual €3–€4 band, cheaper than most full restaurants in Terminal 1. If you want something you can eat standing at the gate, the filled sandwiches and pastries are the safe move.

Backstube Wünsche counts as “groceries” on the map, but don’t expect a full supermarket. Think snacks, bottled drinks, and enough baked goods to carry you through a 2–3 hour flight, not full-meal shopping for a family of four. For bigger grocery runs at MUC you’ll be walking deeper into Terminal 1 landside, beyond the security points.

Timing tip: hit this place before the morning bank of departures around 07:00–09:00, when lines at nearby coffee spots sprawl into the corridor. If your boarding pass shows a T1 gate, factor in a 5–10 minute detour and stock up here rather than gambling on your specific gate’s options.
