Terminal 1’s Subway is the predictable option when everything else looks confusing

In Munich Airport’s Terminal 1, Subway is the “I know what this is” choice when you don’t feel like decoding German menus before a flight. It sits airside in T1, uses the standard international Subway lineup, and keeps prices in the low tier for the airport: expect a basic 15 cm sub, drink, and a cookie to land roughly in the single-digit euro range depending on fillings.

This is the usual build-your-own setup: pick your bread, stack on vegetables, choose sauces, and go. The menu includes the familiar tuna, meatball, and chicken options you see in most European Subways, plus the standard veggie sub. Fountain drinks and bottled soft drinks are available, and you can usually piece together a quick meal under €10 if you skip extras like double meat or premium fillings.

Service is geared around speed more than atmosphere, which works for tight connections in Terminal 1. Turnover is high around mid-morning and late afternoon bank times, and staff tend to keep the line moving with prepped ingredients. Seating is limited and more “grab your tray and go” than linger-for-an-hour; you’re often better off carrying your wrapped sandwich to your gate area if your flight boards from one of the nearby T1 gates.

There’s no meaningful difference from any other European airport Subway, so expectations should match what you’ve seen in other cities. Bread is the standard par-baked style, vegetables are pre-cut, and cookies sit in the display case near the till. If you care about value, the footlong (30 cm) usually prices out better than buying two shorter subs, and the basic meal combo tends to cost less than ordering each item separately.

Tip: decide your bread, protein, and main veggies while you’re still in line; that saves a minute or two at the counter and can be the difference between an unhurried bite and boarding starting at your T1 gate.
