Star Golds at MUC say the Senator upgrade over Business is small.
In Terminal 2 at the Schengen G‑gates, the Lufthansa Senator Lounge sits beside the standard Business Lounge, and FlyerTalk regulars keep repeating the same line: nicer liquor, slightly calmer, same buffet. If you’re already at the G‑gates, think of it as a minor step up, not a different universe.
The lounge entrance is in the Terminal 2 G‑gate cluster, post‑security in the Schengen zone, signed clearly for Senator / Star Alliance Gold. Access rules follow the usual Lufthansa pattern: Senator status or Star Alliance Gold on a same‑day Star flight; business class and Miles & More Frequent Traveller head to the Business Lounge instead, even though it’s only a few meters away.
At the G28 cluster specifically, staff send Senators into a separate space to the left, while business passengers go upstairs to the Business Lounge. That split matters at busy times around the 07:00–09:00 bank and late afternoon waves, when the upstairs area near G28 fills up and the left‑hand Senator room stays a notch quieter.
Food is classic LH lounge buffet: cold cuts, cheese, bread rolls, soup, and a couple of hot trays, usually sausages or pasta, similar to what you’ll see next door in the Business Lounge by G28. Drinks are where you notice the upgrade: better spirits on the self‑serve shelf, decent beer selection, and drinkable sparkling wine if you want a quick pre‑boarding top‑up.
Seating runs across workbenches with power sockets, armchairs along the windows, and smaller tables for plate‑and‑laptop duty; think roughly 150–200 seats distributed across zones, with the G28 Senator side usually having more open spots than the Business level above. Wi‑Fi runs through the standard Munich Airport network, and speeds hold up fine for streaming during non‑bank times.
FlyerTalk elites say they don’t chase a specific Senator lounge at Munich or Frankfurt; they just pick the one closest to their gate in Terminal 2 because offerings are “pretty identical” across locations. Several MUC regulars even skip an extra 10‑minute walk to another Senator Lounge when they’re already near a Business Lounge, because the upgrade in food is essentially zero.
Watch out for the classic MUC pinch points: G‑gates around G28 and G30 just before big Star Alliance departures, when even the Senator door can see a short queue. If your flight leaves nearby, build a 10‑minute buffer so you can duck in, grab a plate and a drink, and still reach your gate at G‑level without a last‑minute sprint.
