USO Lounge

Landside in Terminal 1, the USO sits before security.

The USO Lounge at Minneapolis–Saint Paul is on the public side of Terminal 1, so you can use it even if family is dropping you off or you’re waiting on a delayed pickup. It’s past the ticketing counters on the baggage claim level, so plan an extra 5–10 minutes to walk back upstairs and clear security before boarding.

This lounge is only for active-duty military, Guard, Reserve, and their families, plus eligible veterans under USO rules. Bring a government-issued military ID or dependent ID; TSA PreCheck doesn’t help here since the space is landside and you won’t scan a boarding pass to enter. If you’re flying from Terminal 2, this space won’t be practical because there’s no airside connection between terminals 1 and 2 at MSP.

Hours vary by day and staffing, but recent reports put opening around morning bank times and closing in the early evening, roughly matching flights between 06:00 and 20:00. Because there’s no 24-hour schedule, late-night arrivals to Terminal 1 after 22:00 should not count on this lounge as a backup rest spot. Always check same-day hours on the USO site or app before building your timeline.

The USO Lounge usually offers complimentary basics like coffee, tea, snacks, and soft drinks at no charge. Food shifts with donations and volunteers, so think chips, cookies, or occasionally hot items rather than a full restaurant-style menu. If you want something specific, grab a sandwich or salad from the Terminal 1 food court before heading down so you don’t have to leave and come back.

Seating runs on the functional side with standard chairs and couches rather than lie-flat daybeds, and power outlets can be hit-or-miss by seat. Wi‑Fi is free inside the lounge, and you’ll still see MSP’s public network if the USO connection is busy. If you need privacy for a quick call, look for a quieter corner early in the day before the midday flight rush.

Tip: because the lounge is landside in Terminal 1, set a hard “leave” time at least 45 minutes before boarding to clear security and walk to most domestic gates without stress.
