Monterey’s Electric Vehicle Charging lives inside the regular Short Term parking area, not in Long Term or any premium tier. That means you’re paying the Short Term daily rate of $30.00 for the entire time your car sits there, even though you only need the charger for part of your trip.

The walk from the EV spots to the terminal doors is about 1 minute, since the chargers are mixed into the standard Short Term rows right by the building. You roll your bag a few dozen yards, cross the access lane, and you’re at check-in; no shuttle, no waiting, and no hunting around the further-out Long Term lot.

There are only four electric vehicle charging stations, so treat them as a scarce resource, especially on weekend mornings or holiday peaks. All four sit in the same Short Term zone, which keeps things simple: follow signs for Short Term parking at Monterey Regional Airport (MRY), then look for the marked EV spots as you loop toward the closer rows.

Pricing is straightforward: the EV spaces follow the posted Short Term parking rate of $30.00 per day, with no separate “charging fee” listed. If you’re leaving the car for several days, the math adds up fast, but you trade that extra cost for a guaranteed charge and the 1-minute walk instead of a cheaper, longer walk from Long Term.

Practical tip: fly out early in the day and aim to plug in as soon as you arrive, then move the car to Long Term after your return if you come back to a nearly full battery; the chargers sit in Short Term, so you can always re-park in a cheaper lot once you land.
