Pay-in access in T1 gives you a quiet upgrade
The Independent Business Lounge sits airside in Terminal 1 at Marseille Provence Airport, serving Schengen departures with pay-in access for economy passengers. You follow signs for “Salon Business” after security in T1, then take the stairs or lift one level up. Figure 3–5 minutes’ walk from most T1 gates, so don’t cut it too close to boarding.
The lounge usually opens around early-morning bank time (check your specific day, but think first waves around 05:00–06:00) and runs through the last evening departures. Entry runs roughly in the €30–€40 range on typical lounge pass programs or walk-up, which starts to make sense if you’re in T1 for more than 90 minutes and would otherwise buy two coffees and a snack airside.
Food is basic European cold fare: expect pastries and bread in the morning, plus yogurt and maybe cold cuts; later in the day you’ll see simple sandwiches and packaged snacks. Hot dishes, when they appear, are usually one or two chafing-tray standards rather than a full buffet. If you’re hungry, eat something in the terminal and treat the lounge more as a top-up and sit-down than a full meal stop.
Drinks run from coffee machines and soft drinks to self-pour wine and standard spirits, with French wine usually the safest pick. You’ll find bottled water, sodas, and a small beer selection in fridges against one wall. Nothing here feels like a premium bar, but if you’d spend €6–€8 on a glass of wine at a T1 café, the math on a pay-in visit starts to add up.
Seating is mostly armchairs and small tables, packed into one medium-sized room that handles a normal Marseille morning wave but feels tight when two A320s to Paris and Lyon leave around the same time. Power outlets aren’t at every seat, so if you see a wall socket free, grab it before you fix your second coffee. Wi‑Fi is included and usually quicker than the public airport network.
One last tip: in T1, clear security first, check your exact gate on the screens, then head up to the Independent Business Lounge and set an alarm for 35–40 minutes before departure to give yourself a calm walk back down to the boarding area.
