Near T1 gates, Chilli Beans is the sunglass stop
Right in Mexico City International Airport’s T1, Chilli Beans runs like a quick, airport-style sunglasses kiosk: bright lights, loud frames, and staff who move fast when a boarding call hits. You’ll see it on the main shopping strip in T1, easy to hit on the way back from security while you’re watching gate screens.
Prices sit in that middle bracket: usually cheaper than Ray-Ban at duty free, higher than street markets in CDMX. Stock leans heavy on bold, fashion-forward frames plus some cleaner, black and tortoise options. Turnover is quick, so what’s on the rack at 10:00 can look different by 18:00 the same day.
Most styles are in the MXN $800–$1,600 range, with the louder limited editions sometimes nudging higher. You can try on as many as you want; staff generally push 2-for deals when they’re running promos, especially on weekdays between 12:00 and 18:00. Cards in pesos or USD usually work fine; cash in MXN speeds things up.
Frames skew unisex, and they also carry a smaller line of watches and accessories near the register, often around the MXN $600–$1,200 mark. Lenses are mostly fashion tint, with some polarized options clearly labeled; ask before paying if you need polarization for a window seat on a midday flight out of T1.
Tip: Try to shop here at least 30 minutes before boarding; T1 gate changes are common, and you don’t want to be stuck paying while your flight to Cancun or Monterrey in T1 quietly moves down the hall.
