Three-hour layover in MEX T1 and need a beer?
TGI Fridays in Terminal T1 sits past security on the main departures concourse, and shows up in layover threads as the default spot for sit-down beers and familiar bar food. It carries the same American chain menu you know: burgers, chicken strips, potato skins, and tall draft beers that run around airport-standard prices for Mexico City, higher than street level but normal for MEX.
The restaurant sits landside of many AeroMexico domestic gates but still inside security in T1, so you don’t have to re-clear before boarding. Figure 5–10 minutes’ walk from many mid‑70s to mid‑80s gates, depending on traffic in the corridor. Seating is standard tables and a bar counter, and you’ll see plenty of travelers camped here with one eye on the departures board.
Menu structure mirrors US locations: expect burgers around mid‑200s MXN, appetizers in the 150–250 MXN range, and combo plates slightly higher. Beer buckets and cocktails are common orders; draft domestic beers typically price a bit under imports. If you just need something quick, shareable appetizers like nachos or wings tend to land faster than full mains, based on scattered reviews from similar airport locations.
Service pace varies with bank times in T1, especially around morning and late‑evening departures from about 06:00–09:00 and 19:00–22:00. Build in at least 60 minutes if you want a full meal, or 30 minutes for a drink and one plate. With a 3.2 rating, expectations should sit at “recognizable chain in an airport,” not a destination restaurant.
Tip: Grab a seat near the bar where staff pass frequently, order drinks and one appetizer in the first round, and check your gate at least 30 minutes before departure since T1 walks can hit 10 minutes or more.
