Maison Kayser

T1 ★ 3.5

Good bread and coffee anchor this T1 standby

In Terminal T1 at MEX, Maison Kayser is the spot people name when they just want reliable espresso and a proper loaf or croissant before boarding. It sits airside in the main departures zone of T1, so you can hit it after security without detouring to T2. Google reviews cluster around a 3.5 rating, which sounds middling but compares well against most grab-and-go stands in this terminal.

Figure on paying around 60–80 MXN for a cappuccino and 35–60 MXN for pastries like croissants, pain au chocolat, or almond pastries. Sandwiches and tartines tend to run higher, roughly 150–250 MXN depending on fillings and side salads. Portions skew European rather than US-sized, which works for a light pre-flight bite or a snack to carry to the gate.

Bread is the move here: baguettes, country loaves, and simple sandwiches generally draw better comments than anything heavily sauced or complicated. If you want a quick breakfast in T1, a croissant or pain au chocolat with a double espresso usually lands better than reheated eggs from neighboring chains. Coffee quality sits above the standard airport drip; shots come from a proper machine, not a push-button unit.

Seating is limited and close to the concourse flow, so plan on 10–15 minutes in line at peak morning banks and another 5–10 minutes for drinks and sandwiches to come out. That makes Maison Kayser workable on a 60–90 minute connection in T1, but tight if your boarding pass shows “last call” style boarding 25 minutes before departure.

Tip: If your gate in T1 is more than a 10-minute walk away, grab a baguette sandwich and bottled water here, then eat at the gate so you’re not stuck with only vending machines near boarding.
