Rideshare $4.82

Four bucks and change gets your rideshare into T4

The Rideshare Terminal 4 pickup at Melbourne Airport adds a fixed AUD $4.82 airport fee to your app fare, which still works out well if you’re splitting a car after a Jetstar or other low-cost carrier flight into T4. This zone sits right by Terminal 4 on the ground transport side, so you’re not dragging bags across to T1, T2 or T3 just to get into an Uber, DiDi or Ola.

Terminal 4 mainly handles Jetstar and other budget airlines, so the Rideshare Terminal 4 zone is set up for high volume at peak morning and evening banks. The signed rideshare area for T4 sits on the forecourt near the terminal, and your driver’s app will show “Rideshare T4” as a specific pickup option, separate from the zones near T1–T3.

The $4.82 surcharge is automatically added in the Uber, DiDi or Ola app when you select Melbourne Airport (MEL) and choose the Terminal 4 pickup point, so you don’t pay anything extra in cash. For short hops to nearby suburbs within 10–15 km, that fixed airport fee can be a big chunk of the total, but split between two or three people it still undercuts most point-to-point taxi costs.

Rideshare pickups at Terminal 4 run 24/7, matching MEL’s overnight and early-morning Jetstar schedule, with lots of demand around 06:00–09:00 and again from about 17:00–21:00. If you land at T4 but booked a friend or family pickup at a different terminal like T2, allow 10–15 minutes to walk across, compared with 2–3 minutes to step outside and use the dedicated Rideshare Terminal 4 zone.

Trips from Rideshare Terminal 4 into Melbourne CBD usually sit in the 25–40 minute range depending on the Tullamarine Freeway traffic, with the $4.82 airport fee sitting on top of whatever surge pricing the app applies. Runs to closer areas like Essendon or Airport West are often under 15 minutes, and if you split the fare between three people the per-person cost can drop below the standard SkyBus adult ticket price.

Tip: set your app pickup point to “Rideshare Terminal 4” as soon as you clear immigration and baggage at T4; by the time you walk the 2–3 minutes to the zone, your driver is usually already in the airport precinct and you cut down curbside waiting time.
