Rideshare Terminal 1 sits on the T1 forecourt and lets you call Uber, Bolt, or DiDi straight after a domestic Jetstar or Qantas-linked T1 arrival. You pay the airport rideshare access fee of about $4.82 on top of the app fare, same as the other MEL rideshare zones, but you skip the cross-terminal walk.

The signed pickup area for Rideshare Terminal 1 is outside the T1 arrivals level, a short walk of a few dozen metres from baggage claim belts used for domestic flights. Look for ground markings for rideshare rather than the standard taxi rank, and set your app pin to the official “Melbourne Airport T1 Rideshare” point so drivers don’t default to T2 or T4.

UberX, Bolt, and DiDi all recognise the T1 zone, and the $4.82 fee typically appears as an “airport surcharge” on your receipt. That’s per trip, not per passenger, so two or three people splitting one car usually beat the cost of the regular T1 taxi flagfall once you pass the first 5–7 kilometres, especially on late‑night runs into the CBD.

There’s no fixed operating window: app rides run 24/7, but domestic T1 arrivals bunch heavily around morning and evening peaks, so wait times can stretch to 10–15 minutes at 07:00–09:00 and again near 18:00–20:00. During off‑peak, a car at T1 often appears in under 5 minutes, helped by drivers cycling through other terminal zones T2–T4 between jobs.

The main reason to use the T1 zone rather than walking to T2 or T4 is time with bags in hand. Walking to another terminal can add 5–10 minutes, while calling your ride at T1 lets you request as soon as you hit the arrivals doors. That matters on tight turnarounds into the city, especially if you’re racing a 60‑minute meeting window in the CBD.

Tip: Order your car only once you’re within sight of the signed T1 rideshare area; if you trigger pickup from baggage claim, drivers sometimes wait at T2 or T3 and you lose 5–10 minutes trying to find each other.
