T1’s Amcal+ Express opens at 6am

Gate-side in Terminal T1, Amcal+ Express runs 6am–11pm most days, so early commuters on Qantas and Jetstar domestic runs can grab painkillers or band-aids before boarding. It sits post-security in the T1 retail strip, so you need a same-day boarding pass to get in.

Hours matter here: it’s open Monday to Friday 6am–11pm and Sunday 6am–11pm, but fully closed on Saturdays. If you fly on a Saturday and need medication or toiletries, plan on sorting that elsewhere in the terminal or before you reach MEL.

This is a health-focused shop, not a full grocery. Expect over-the-counter basics like paracetamol, ibuprofen, cold & flu tablets, motion-sickness tablets, throat lozenges, small first-aid packs, and travel-sized sunscreen rather than big-box pharmacy pricing. You’ll also usually find toiletries in cabin-friendly sizes, from toothpaste and deodorant to contact lens solution that fits 100ml rules.

Prices sit above suburban chemists but below panic-buying at the gate; think a few extra dollars on common meds, still cheaper than losing a day to a headache at 35,000 feet. Staff can usually point you to non-drowsy options if you have a same-day meeting after landing, which beats guessing at a generic cold tablet.

Tip: Flying Sunday night from T1 and feeling a cold coming on? Swing past Amcal+ Express before 10:30pm so you’re not racing the 11pm close while your flight boards.
