Two Johns Taphouse

T2

Gate-side beer list in T2

Two Johns Taphouse sits airside in Terminal T2 at Melbourne Airport, a few minutes’ walk from most international gates. It runs from early morning through late-night departures, so you can usually get a seat before that 23:55 red-eye. Rating sits around 54, so set expectations accordingly: solid for a pre-flight drink, mixed for food.

The draw is the tap list. You’ll see several Australian beers on draft, normally including at least one local Victorian brew alongside bigger names. Pints aren’t cheap — think CBD pub pricing inside an airport — but still less painful than some onboard bar carts. Wine and basic cocktails are on the menu, with house pours at standard airport markups.

Food is standard pub fare: burgers, parmas, fries, and a few share plates. Mains typically land in the AUD 20–30 range, and portions run large enough that one dish can hold you through an 8–10 hour flight. Quality reads “airport pub” more than city gastropub, so treat it as fuel, not a destination meal.

Service speed varies by bank: when multiple long-haul flights out of T2 leave around 22:00, orders can stretch past 25–30 minutes. Staff are used to tight turnarounds, though, and will usually warn you if your gate’s final call is under 20 minutes away. You pay at table or counter depending on how busy the floor is.

Seating is mostly standard tables with a few bar stools facing the concourse. Power outlets are limited, and you may only find one working socket along a wall or pillar, so don’t plan on charging multiple devices. Noise level spikes when two or three widebodies board at once, especially around gates serving Asia and the Middle East.

Tip: If you’re eyeing a pint before a T2 international departure, check your boarding time and order food only if you have at least 45 minutes until scheduled gate close.
