Relay

T1

By gate-heavy T1, Relay is your basic last-minute grab

Relay in Muscat T1 sits airside in the main departures area, so you hit it after security and immigration, not before. Think compact newsstand plus travel shop. Shelves carry paperbacks and magazines, snacks, soft drinks, and a rack of chargers and SIM cards. Prices are airport-marked but not outrageous; expect a bottle of water in the 300–500 baisa range and snacks from about 500 baisa up.

Hours typically mirror Muscat International’s long-haul bank, with Relay open through most overnight waves from Gulf and Europe flights, though exact closing can slide by an hour or so. It serves both Schengen-bound and regional Omani Air flights from T1, so you’ll see a mix of passengers grabbing reading material for 6–8 hour sectors. Card payments are standard, and contactless usually works without drama.

Stock skews practical: travel pillows, basic toiletry kits under 5 OMR, power banks, universal adapters, and a modest shelf of local souvenirs with “Oman” branding. Don’t expect deep book curation or premium electronics; this is more about fixing a forgotten cable or picking up one light paperback for a 7-hour run to Europe. If you want serious duty-free perfume or dates, head to the main duty-free zone instead.

Quick tip: hit Relay before you walk down to the far T1 gates; backtracking can easily burn 10–15 minutes if your flight boards via the bus gates at the end of the pier.
