Gate-side in T1, Reggae Mart Central is your last-minute Jamaica grab stop
Just past security in Terminal T1, Reggae Mart Central sits along the main departures corridor, so you pass it on the way to most MBJ gates. It leans heavily into Jamaica-branded souvenirs: think flags, shot glasses, magnets, and T-shirts with Montego Bay or Bob Marley graphics. Expect airport pricing, with small trinkets starting around a few US dollars and shirts running higher, especially larger sizes.
The shop targets quick in-and-out traffic from outbound flights, so it usually opens early in the morning in time for first bank departures and stays open into the evening when North American and UK flights push. Inventory skews touristy rather than upscale gift shop; you see a lot of bright colors, reggae motifs, and “Ya Mon” slogans. It’s all post-security in T1, so you can browse without watching immigration or check-in cutoffs.
Food-wise, you’ll find packaged Jamaican snacks: banana chips, local candies, and often rum cakes or coffee gift packs on the shelves. Prices for these gift boxes are noticeably higher than supermarkets in Montego Bay, but still fine if you just need a couple of presents before boarding. If you’re planning to bring back multiple larger items, do that in town and use Reggae Mart Central mainly for one or two forgotten gifts.
Tip: stop here after you clear security and before you sit at the gate; lines grow closer to afternoon departures when several flights out of T1 board within 60–90 minutes of each other.
