Santa Gloria

T2

Gate-side in T2, Santa Gloria is the quick coffee stop in this part of Madrid–Barajas

Santa Gloria sits in Terminal T2, handy if you’re flying airlines like Ryanair or Air Europa’s Schengen routes out of the older terminals. It’s past security, so you can grab something after clearing checks instead of hunting in the public check-in hall. Seating is limited and spills into the concourse, so think of it more as a grab-and-go spot than a long sit-down meal.

Expect standard Spanish bakery-café fare at airport markups: a coffee and pastry usually runs around €4–€6, and simple sandwiches land in the €6–€9 range. They pull proper espresso rather than push-button stuff, and you’ll normally see croissants, napolitanas, and small bocadillos in the case. It’s a safer bet than grabbing packaged snacks from a newsstand if you have 20–30 minutes before boarding.

Service rhythm matches typical T2 traffic: mornings from about 06:00 to 10:00 get queues as Schengen departures spike, and you can wait 10 minutes or more for a latte and a warmed sandwich. Midday and late evening are calmer, with more chance of snagging one of the few tables nearby. If your flight leaves before 06:00 or after 22:00, don’t count on much being left in the pastry case.

Best orders here are the simple ones: café con leche, espresso, or cortado paired with a croissant or napolitana de chocolate. Pre-made sandwiches are fine if you’re boarding a 2–3 hour hop within Europe, but they can sit for a while and the bread turns dense. Cold drinks and bottled water cost about €3–€4, similar to other T2 outlets, so stock up here instead of at the gate vending machines.

Tip: hit Santa Gloria right after security in T2, then walk to your gate with coffee in hand rather than waiting until the boarding area, where options thin out and lines spike 30 minutes before departure.
