Rodilla

T1

T1’s Rodilla is the safest Spanish fast-food bet before security checks

This Rodilla sits in Terminal T1 at Madrid–Barajas, so it mainly serves Schengen and some non-Schengen departures from that pier. It’s the same Madrid-born chain you see in the city, focused on ready-made sandwiches, quick breakfasts, and coffee. Think cold triangular sandwiches on soft sliced bread, plus some hot options and pastries. Expect airport pricing: a basic sandwich and coffee combo usually lands around €6–€8.

The menu leans on Spanish flavors you recognize in town. You’ll see fillings like jamón y queso, pollo asado, tortilla, and tuna, plus some vegetarian options. Sandwiches are generally small, so plan on two pieces if you’re even moderately hungry. There are also croissants, napolitanas, and other pastries for about €2–€3 each, plus soft drinks, bottled water, and espresso-based coffee.

Rodilla in T1 keeps typical daytime airport hours, usually opening early morning for the 06:00 wave and staying open through the late evening departures. It works as a backup plan when other sit-down spots in T1 look full or slow. Service is counter-style: you point at items in the display, pay, and either sit at nearby tables or take everything to your gate.

Quality sits a notch above generic pre-packaged sandwiches from a fridge but below a made-to-order café. Bread can feel a bit soft if it has been in the case for a while, so grab items that look freshly restocked or just brought out. Coffee is drinkable but not a destination; if you really care, use Rodilla for food and grab a specialty coffee elsewhere in T1.

Tip: if you have under 20 minutes before boarding at a T1 Schengen gate, Rodilla works well as a fast grab-and-go stop; order a sandwich duo and bottled drink, skip the hot items, and you’ll be back at the gate in under 10 minutes.
