Pans & Company

T1

T1’s Pans & Company does Spanish-style sandwiches fast

Right in Terminal T1, Pans & Company is the safe bet when you just want a quick bocadillo before boarding. It’s post-security, so you’re not burning extra time, and everything is self-explanatory at the counter. Expect classic Spanish fillings like jamón serrano or tortilla on crusty bread, plus fries and salads, at prices that usually land around €6–€10 for a sandwich and drink.

The menu is built around hot and cold bocadillos, with a few combos that bundle a sandwich, fries, and a soft drink for under €12. Coffee, bottled water, and basic pastries sit in the grab-and-go section, handy if you’re running to a Schengen gate in T1 and don’t have time for a sit‑down meal. Portions run larger than most onboard snack boxes, so this can easily replace airplane food on a short-haul IB or Vueling flight.

Service pace depends on the time of day: during early morning banks around 06:00–09:00, lines can stack 10–15 people deep, stretching into the main concourse of T1. Outside those peaks, you can usually order and get your tray in under 10 minutes. Staff move orders quickly, but customization beyond removing one or two ingredients tends to slow things down, so keep tweaks simple if your boarding time is inside 30 minutes.

You won’t find craft anything here, but you will find cold beer on tap and standard soft drinks in 330ml cans. Coffee is machine-based rather than barista-style, more like a decent vending espresso than a city café. It’s still better than what many airlines pour in economy on a two-hour hop out of Madrid, so grabbing a takeaway cup at Pans & Company in T1 before boarding can actually upgrade your inflight caffeine situation.

Tip: check your gate on the screens beside Pans & Company before ordering; if your flight shifts to a far end of T1, give yourself at least 10 minutes to walk it with a tray or takeaway bag in hand.
