McDonald's

T1

Big Mac and fries in T1 before non-Schengen flights

McDonald's in Terminal T1 sits airside in the departures area, handy if you're flying out on many non-Schengen routes from Madrid. You get the full standard menu: Big Mac, McRoyal Deluxe, Chicken McNuggets, and Filet-O-Fish all show up on the boards, plus Spain staples like the McIbérica when it's in season. Prices run higher than city stores, with a basic menu landing around €9–€11.

The restaurant usually opens early in the morning and runs late into the evening to match T1’s first and last departures, so you can grab a Sausage McMuffin-style breakfast or a café con leche if you're on a 06:00–08:00 departure wave. Seating is shared with nearby gates and other concessions, so expect more of a food-court feel than a classic dine-in setup.

Order at the touchscreen kiosks near the entrance to save a few minutes; you can switch languages between Spanish and English on-screen. Card and contactless payments are accepted, and receipts clearly list your flight time if you enter it, which helps keep an eye on boarding when you’re cutting it close to a 45-minute pre-boarding window.

Food quality tracks with a typical Spanish McDonald’s: fries come out hot if you hit them at peak times around the 12:30–14:30 and 20:00–22:00 rush. Outside those windows, burgers can sit a bit longer in the warmer, so customize your order (no pickles, extra sauce) to force a fresh prep. Expect your tray in 5–10 minutes during normal traffic.

Quick tip: if your gate in T1 is at the far end of the non-Schengen pier, grab your meal to go in a paper bag and walk down; it can be a 7–10 minute trek from the central food area to the remote gates.
